Making Of Reflektor

For the making of Reflektor, I went to the workshop a couple of rounds to get things cut and trimmed. I am not sure why this outcome is so straight forward yet it took so much of my time, I guess partly because this kaleidoscope was sort of made from scratch and a lot of planning and visualisation was needed to build the Reflektor.

Cutting away the bottom of the tube to make it hollow to attach the view finder (black acrylic)

Cutting out circles out of black acrylic that will be used for the viewfinder, then drilling a hole in the middle.

To cut out the mirror acrylic by hands is not such an easy task, it does not break apart neatly sometimes and if not careful the acrylic mirror might get scratched with the cutter which will leave a line/mark and cannot be used anymore.

Sticking the acrylic mirror together to make a prism, and using the circular clear acrylic as a stopper on the top of the prism to prevent the contents from falling into the prism. Then a perfect fitting lid on the top attached to a transparency.

The final design and look of the Reflektor, not the ordinary kind of kaleidoscope even when it is one. I tried to keep the design as interesting and attention grabbing as it can. But also sticking close to the collab's art direction with a mixture of mine. The Reflektor works and I am so happy, can't wait to bring it around and make the best out of it!
