Ready, get set, get curious

For today's studio class, we have to think about a few possible few outcomes that talks about the design issue, to articulate the problem.

I had a few ideas that revolves around creating situations to make people curious, in order to know the problem they have need to examine and explore the given design product. To make them look at things in a different light.

Below are a few of the ideas I came out with using the keywords, "Death of curiosity" and "Curiosity killed the cat".

1. Investigation : Making a crime scene that leads to an investigation of the death of curiosity. For example, making very very tiny editorial books that talks about the causes to the lost of curiosity in designers. In order to read, the person would need a magnifying glass to read. Hence they will be a "detective" trying to solve a crime.

2. Funeral : A mini funeral for the death of curiosity. Inspired by the quote "curiosity killed the cat", perhaps placing a dead cat (fake) in a coffin. Or the remains of curiosity in the coffin.

3. Experiment : A lab test on the death of curiosity. Treating it as a chemistry experiment, to find out the causes of the death of curiosity and the usage of laboratory apparatus.

4. Decay : The decay of curiosity. To portray the decay of curiosity because it has been forgotten and untouched by graphic designers, it starts to decay on its own. With a bit of inspiration of a chemistry lab test, I was thinking of using chemicals to create chemical reactions. And using a projector film slides to showcase each chemical reaction and having words (causes) hidden in the middle / displayed in glass frames. Basically to document curiosity as a form of decay.

One potential and more elaborated idea that I might be using for the first outcome. The investigation of the death of curiosity. Totally using the chemistry idea and chemical reaction to show case the causes of  the design problem, with a quote or take away that suggest to the audience if they have lost their curiosity.

I would be finding out how acid and alkaline works and how both can create different reactions that causes different colours to show. Also, the causes of the design problem will be a hidden message on a piece of round paper, I am still figuring out which method would be idea. The message will be shown when reacted to chemicals or water. If the chemicals method does not work, I will substitute it with coloured water. Excited!
